My favorite counter attack goal has to be Wesley Sneijder’s goal. The entire play was gorgeous and the finish was excellent. He really had to thread a needle to get that ball in there, and do it under pressure. The entire play, starting from the save off the line from the Italian corner, was executed perfectly. I was a little worried when the ball was crossed into the Italian box as I didn’t see the forward on screen and thought the ball had been well overplayed. But then the header came from the side and Sneijder did well to get the ball in the back of the net. I just wish it hadn’t been against the Italians.

In the end this kind of soccer seems to be more suspenseful for me. I never know when to expect a goal, such as when Turkey got one in the least minutes against the Swiss hosts. Gotta keep watching to the end. We’ll see if the Italians can show us some better soccer tomorrow.

First off be warned this is explicit. I usually go with that reggaeton but I thought this week I’d play some of this style. It’s got plenty of great artists, though I would say T.I. did best on this song. Watch out for the cameo appearances, I know I saw Pitbull and T Paine in there somewhere. Members of a University of Delaware honor fraternity who dressed up as Latino gardeners and gangsters and attended a South of the Border-theme party have stirred up outrage and cries of racism on the Newark campus…

The photographs, which appeared on a student’s Facebook Web site page, depicted students, some dressed as gardeners wearing work shirts with “Pedro” and “Jose” name tags, and a racist slur scrawled across the back. Other photos pictured a trio of the students in red, white and green shirts with the word “Mexico” on the front, and “Spicy,” “Full of Tequila” and “Hott” on the backs.

I’m so sick of this. This is not the first time this happened, and I’m sure it’s not the last. The article from delawareonline goes on to say that there were protests on campus and that the university is looking towards taking disciplinary action.

To hell with all of these people. I can’t take it anymore. Like the thing with Michael Richards and the racial slurs. Then he goes and apologizes and everything is supposed to be cool, of course he’s not racist. He just slipped. Damn, what does someone have to do to be a racist these days? Screaming racial slurs at them isn’t enough. The hell with that. You don’t see Michael Richards yelling White racial slurs at White people. Of course not. That’s not going through his mind, but when he yells at African-Americans what pops in his head, yeah racial slurs. You can take your apology and stuff it.

Fine, these are college kids. I get it. They apologized, they said they made a mistake, they’re being punished. It just gets old. I’m just waiting for when we can celebrate our differences and not put each other down. When white kids can have Mexican themed parties, or even Peruvian themed parties and we can all drink Pisco Sour and Pilsen Trujillo and have a great time. Not parties where kids ridicule minority groups and bring them down.

Un poco tarde pero aquí esta. This song was off the Don Omar produced album Los Bandoleros. This album dropped a while ago but I listened to it heavily when I went to Peru for my summer internship. The album was pretty solid I thought. It may not have had a lot of singles, but it was an album I could put in and just let play. This song got a lot of airplsy so I’m sure most of you uys will be familiar with it. Hasta la próxima.

Hot off his new album El Pentagono, Don Omar come out with Calm My Nerves. It’s got that whole Spanish and English thing going on so it’ll reach a broad audience. I think the song makes a great start to his new album. There are a few other hits on the album that should be able to get some play, but it doesn’t seem to be a hit with every song. So this week’s Song of the Week is by Aventura with their song Mi Hermanita. Aventura does that whole bachata thing, but they also dive into a lot other genres. They aren’t the same group they were when they were they started, since Toby Love bounced, but they’ve still got it. It’s a little more subdued this week. Have a good weekend. Hasta la próxima.

The acceptance speech Don Omar gave was short, to the point, an perfectly in line with who he is and why we all can’t get enough of his music. He first and foremost shared his award with all those artists in the reggaeton genre, including Wisin y Yandel, Rakim y Ken-Y, and others. He spoke about how he was thankful for reggaeton music being able to reach out to whom it has and thanked his island of Puerto Rico for all their love and support. Awesome.

There were plenty of other highlights in the show. Juan Luis Guerra had another classic performance. I remember when I was little I used to pretend to be him and my family would sit down in the family room and I would put on a really long coat and lip sync his songs while I hand my hand over my ear. ¡Ay!, me sube la bilirrubina. Ricardo Montaner showed us all he’s not only a great singer but a great human being. And wow his son looked and sounded exactly like him, my goodness. That Victor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Gran Combo collaboration was a classic demonstration of salsa, very well done.

The closing collaboration between Wisin, Yandel and David Bisbal at the end was incredible. It was truly a combination of sounds and not just each party doing their own thing. It was definitely worthy of being the show closer, we even got to see Yandel without sunglasses for a second.

And I have to give a shout out to Pedro Infante because he too is incredible. If I don’t make it in this life and I go broke and lonely, I’m taking whatever little I have to Mexico and going to a bar and singing “Ella” just like he did while drowning in a bottle of Tequila. I love it.

I’m just really happy that they went with Latino and not Hispanic or something else. I don’t think I would have visited that site.

For Spanish speakers from all over the place, MySpace offers MySpace Latinoamerica at la.myspace.com. I feel this is directly correlated with the Latino presence here in the U.S. I’m sure it’s great for MySpace to reach out to even more users and get a bigger piece of that international internet pie, but it’s good for me too to see major players catering to Latinos. Awesome.

Esta canción is a personal favorite of mine. This is just awesome. It’s not rap like or like general reggaeton music, but it’s got that real Caribbean, old-school, folk style, throw-back feel. A lot of other songs are about more than the music. Other songs get you all hyped up and you get all riled up. But this song feels like its all about the music. It’s all about the rhythm and the motion of the song. If one would say that music should be ‘pure’, this song would fit the bill. Hopefully you all will like it as much as I do. Hasta la próxima.
