about me

more or less just a few things about me

I was born in Manhattan in the early eighties and after being there for a short while, my family moved to New Jersey. We were there for only a few years and then we moved to Columbus, OH where we’ve been ever since. I grew up going to Catholic schools and playing soccer 24/7. When it came time to go to college I went with the only possible choice and became a buckeye at the Ohio State University.

I spent my first year at tOSU majoring in Electrical and Computer Programming. Although I liked the technical aspects, the physics didn’t so much do it for me. So I stuck with the tech part and did Management Information Systems in the Fisher College of Business. I learned how to make web sites and all that and so now here I am, trying to make some money at 3AM and get over to Peru.

Even though I was born and raised in the U.S.A. I never fully fit in becuase growing up in my house was like being in Peru. It’s simply that there are quite a few differences between Latin American and U.S. American cultures and it’s been difficult at times. I grew up speaking Spanish at home and English everywhere else. The United States is a country that sees everything in black and white and I’m neither. So I, and all those like me, have to create our own icons in society and our own culture within the United States.

So that’s where I am now. I don’t quite fit in here and I don’t quite fit in there so I have to make my own space and live in it. But after all is said and done: I am proud to be American. I’m proud to be Latin. I love the struggle, it makes me stronger. Pa’ que sepan el poder Latino.
