Daddy Yankee and his shoes aren’t all that new of a story, but you can customize the show online as well. About spring of last year Nelly and Daddy Yankee came out with their lines of shoes with Reebok as the manufacturer. I remember trying to get my hands on the Don Omar show when it came out, but there was no way to get one retail here in the U.S., the shoe was only available in Puerto Rico. All these reggaeton artists and yet I can’t get their kicks here in the U.S.

But Daddy Yankee’s got a great customizable show available online. The one Daddy Yankee design is a mixture of dark blue and yellow and it looks pretty good. I’m not sure how good it will be in the long run to allow so many customizable shoes because there are probably going to be a lot of ugly Daddy Yankee shoes out there. It’s going to be a pretty bad experience if you see someone wearing some ugly shoes only to find out they’re Daddy Yankee shoes. That can’t be good for sales or image.

Some level of customization is good, but maybe some predetermined color combinations that all look good. I’ve seen Daddy Yankee “LA Dodgers” special which is a great idea, having special color combinations for things like that. It would be awesome to see the official Daddy Yankee “Puerto Rico” edition. I can see that selling out like crazy. Either way, I’m glad that I can get some more of these reggaeton products here in America. It just speaks to the growing market presence of Latinos here in the U.S. and to the power of reggaeton to break international borders and sell in countries that don not even predominantly speak Spanish. Awesome.
