Florida State offers Hispanic Marketing Communication course
Florida State University is offering a marketing course online to its students in how to market to the Hispanic/Latino community. Of the various objectives they have I would like point out a few.
- Enumerate the factors that make the Hispanic market different from other culturally unique markets
- Generate a marketing strategy based on an understanding of the Hispanic market and its segments
- Address ethical issues in Hispanic and culturally based market
I think this shows movement in a positive direction towards recognizing the Latino population in the U.S. and understanding the market power we possess. I remember when I took my marketing courses at tOSU we touched on different cultural markets and their differences, but this was for only about an hour one day. The press release about this course states that:
The course is available to anyone interested and is particularly recommended for professionals currently addressing the Hispanic market, or those who would like to start a Hispanic marketing initiative.
This goes to show the ever-increasing impace we are having on this country. I’m glad to see that we are being recognized by an academic institution. With all the ruckus that is going on with illegal immigration and all that, it would not be a stretch to see the Latino community be, ina way, swept under the rug or a topic to be avoided because of all the hoopla, if you will. Positive steps like this will slowly chip away at negative ideologies held towards Latinos. It will break down negative stereotypes held against us and instead be percieved as equal members of the community.
I like it. View more at Hispanic PR Wire.
